Business centre offers retreat from home working

18 November, 2013

Exeter serviced offices Sowton Technology & Business Centre is offering home workers the chance to re-establish the boundaries between their home and work lives.

More and more people in the region are taking advantage of the developments in communications technology and are working on the road or from home.

However, the latter option is not always the easy one and Sowton Technology & Business Centre is offering single office desks to home workers who may want to go to work for a change.

Helen Batson, manager of Sowton Technology & Business Centre, said: “Working from home isn’t always the best option. It may seem cheaper because you do not have to pay rent for an office, but you still have to pay for the heating, lighting, water, phone and connectivity costs while you are working from home.

“Home also provides distractions that being in an office doesn’t, whether it is children or jobs that need to be done around the house. This often leads to the boundaries between home and work life becoming blurred, and therefore leading to inefficiencies in both.”

Sowton Technology & Business Centre already provides its managed office services for a number of single-desk tenants and can offer similar office space to home workers who want to get away from home.

Mrs Batson added: “We offer flexible, affordable terms, a professional telephone answering service, telephone line, high speed Internet connectivity, 24-hour access, CCTV security, board rooms for larger meetings; in fact, everything a professional person would need to work efficiently. We would welcome enquiries from any home worker who would like to create a separate work space.”
